Gustavo Petro, 51, was elected mayor of Bogota, Columbia. He won 32% of the votes during the elections. He was a former guerrilla in the defunct M-19 movement. M-19 was a group of rebel people going against Columbia. He ran an anti-corruption campaign before he became mayor. He was in prison for 2 years for working in the M-19. In his acceptance speech he said, “Bogota is saying yes to reconciliation, yes to peace.”
